Mayoral candidate Caroline Pidgeon is campaigning for half price fares before 7.30am

Liberal Democrats braved the fog at Bromley South station this morning to promote its mayoral candidate’s rail fare campaign.

Caroline Pidgeon is campaigning for half price fares for everyone who starts their journey before 7.30am.

However, the Lib Dems claim it is not just early bird commuters who benefit, but commuters who travel later will enjoy reduced congestion on their journeys.

Bexley and Bromley’s Liberal Democrat GLA candidate Julie Ireland said: “We had a great reception from local commuters this morning.

“Most are of course in a hurry to catch their trains, but several people grabbed a leaflet and then came back out of the station to get more information.

“It’s a campaign that’s really gaining support, it’s well thought out and fully costed and would be a massive boost for our city’s lowest paid workers who often have to work unsocial hours.”
