Bromley: Irish boxers haunted by death of team-mate Darren Sutherland

PUBLISHED: 12:00 27 July 2012

Ireland's Olympic boxing team said the death of their former team-mate Darren Sutherland "lingers" with them and that they "still consider him" part of the squad.

The boxer was living in Bromley when he hanged himself in 2009, just a year after turning professional following the Beijing Games.

He was managed by Chislehurst promoter Frank Maloney who worked with former heavyweight world champion Lennox Lewis at the peak of his career.
