BMI Chelsfield Park Hospital celebrated the second anniversary of its accreditation as a Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery Centre of Excellence.
The accreditation, which was given in April 2012 by the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), recognises the hospital’s excellent results in the field of weight loss surgery.
Since it was received Mr Shamsi El-Hasani, Consultant Bariatric Surgeon and lead weight loss expert behind the accreditation, has treated nearly 700 patients.
Executive Director Ruth Hoadley said: “All of the criteria we had to meet in order to gain accreditation from the IFSO for our bariatric service have helped us demonstrate our commitment to the highest standards in patient care. This is something that we continue to uphold in our partnership with Mr El-Hasani, who is without doubt one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons in the UK.
“We would not have achieved this accreditation without the hard work and dedication of Mr El-Hasani and his specialist team. On behalf of everyone at the hospital I would like to thank each and everyone one of them for their hard work.”
