Bromley has been named the seventh luckiest place in the UK to buy your lottery tickets.

The borough’s BR postcode ranks inside the top 10 after 17 millionaires purchased their winning numbers from shops in Bromley since The National Lottery began 19 years ago.

There have also been 164 prize winners who have banked £50,000 or more, propelling the postcode well up the lucky table.

To commemorate Bromley’s new status, the council will receive a ‘National Lottery Lucky postcode town’ stamp to raise awareness of the local winning streak.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Congratulations to the people of Bromley, they live in one of the UK’s luckiest postcodes. Maybe evolutionist Charles Darwin living and working at Down House helped with the ‘origin’ of the postcode’s luck?”
