A Bromley filmmaker will launch her first feature length release on DVD this Friday, aiming to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.
Anna Littler’s Blitz & Bananas is set in Bromley during the Second World War, and was inspired by her great uncle who served as an RAF pilot - but never returned from battle.
More than 150 volunteers helped with the film, which stars Brian Murphy (George & Mildred) and Linda Regan (Hi-de-Hi!) in the lead roles. Its premier at The Churchill Theatre, in Bromley High Street, sold out.
Anna said: “Even as a child, Remembrance Day was important to me. Watching the service on television, I’d ponder over the loss of a great uncle in the Second World War and my grandpa’s inability to speak about his time as a prisoner of war.”
On Saturday, Anna will fly to Belgium to lay a wreath on the grave of her great great uncle who died in Ypres in the First World War. To purchase Blitz & Bananas, visit blitzandbananas.com.
