An elderly couple from Bromley are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary on June 22.

Ena and Reg Underhay, both in their 80s, married in 1957, and then went on to have two daughters, Jane and Alison, four grandchildren, Ben, Amy, Adam and Joanna, and also two great granddaughters, Poppy and Hope.

The pair met at a book shop where Mrs Underhay worked in Southgate North London after Mr Underhay went in to borrow a book. Not long later Mr Underhay moved to Bromley to start their relationship.

After moving to the area they both became a big part of the Bromley Methodist Church.

Speaking of their marriage, the pair shared their success comes from “laughing everyday together.”

Their granddaughter Amy Newing, said: “They have a lot of patience for one another, and they make sure they still cuddle everyday too. My grandad thinks he’s the boss in the relationship, but it’s definitely my nan.”
