Bromley councillors meet MP over green belt changes

Bromley councillors had a meeting with government minister Nick Boles to voice concerns over the relaxation of planning laws.
Council leader Cllr Stephen Carr, his deputy Cllr Colin Smith and chairman of development control Cllr Peter Dean visited the House of Commons, where they told the planning minister they feared the changes could weaken the protection of green belt land.
Cllr Dean said: “Most of our colleagues are concerned at the possibility of changes to green belt policy. Some other councils have voiced similar concerns. He [Mr Boles] did say the proposals were not set in stone.”
The council strongly opposes to any variation of permitted development rights or green belt policy, which it believes would have a “profound effect on living standards”.
