Councillors have elected Bromley’s new mayor and deputy mayor for the next year 12 months.

At the annual meeting of the council on Wednesday, Chislehurst ward councillor Ian Payne was elected as mayor for 2016-2017, choosing West Wickham councillor Hannah Gray as deputy mayor.

Accepting his new role, Cllr Payne said: “It’s an immense privilege to represent such a great borough during my mayoral year.

“I hope to meet a wide range of people during this time and support our many wonderful charities, community groups and organisations in the work they do for the good of our community.”

The new mayor then chose The Salvation Army Youth Project and The Breast of Bromley as his charities for the next year.
