Communities coming together to celebrate culture

Bromley celebrated with Diversity Day earlier this month, when communities from across the borough came together for an exciting and wide ranging programme of events and guest speakers.

Diversity Day is a community led event in partnership with voluntary, private and public sector organisations in the borough including HSBC, Bromley Council, NHS Bromley, Bromley Healthcare, the Ethnic Communities Programme, Chinese Language School Bromley, Community Links and the Safer Bromley Partnership.

The audience was treated to performances from schools across the borough as well as a Fan Dance by the Orpington Chinese Community, Jasmine Club Traditional Korean and Beijing Opera Dance, Bromley Asian Cultural Association Folk Dance and singing duo Liz and Fran from Bromley Mencap .

The range of participants and activities from different groups and communities reflect the diversity of service priorities in the Council’s Building a Better Bromley strategic vision for the borough.

Bromley mayor Julian Benington said: “This event provided a marvellous opportunity for these communities to come together and celebrate through a range of cultural activities, song and dance.”
