Bromley bank clerk saves elderly customer from £13,500 rip-off

An elderly customer avoided a £13,500 rip-off after a bank clerk became suspicious about a transfer to a bogus building company’s account.

A worker at the Halifax in Bromley High Street alerted Trading Standards’ rapid response team who discovered the recipient was a cold caller trying to con the pensioner.
