Judges including Jodie Kidd and Jennifer Saunders praise designs
Three apprentice tailors from Bromley have won one of the industry’s most coveted awards.
Joe Holsgrove, 20, from Chislehurst, an apprentice at Savile Row tailors Denman and Goddard, won the Golden Shears Award at a ceremony on Monday night.
Dionne Reeves, 29, from Penge, an apprentice at Savile Row’s H Huntsman and Sons, won the Silver Shears runner’s-up award, while Nuriya Kabirova, 22, a student at the University of the Creative Arts in Rochester, was the winner of the Rising Star Award.
Mr Holsgrove’s shooting jacket and trousers, Ms Reeve’s military-inspired frock coat and overalls, and Ms Kabirova’s coat and trousers were chosen as the winning designs by a panel of judges including supermodel Jodie Kidd, Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Piers Linney, actress Jennifer Saunders and fashion designer Betty Jackson.
Mr Holsgrove said: “I am speechless. All the hard work has paid off.”
