Disabled and vulnerable are suffering, group says
Activists from Bromley were among 250,000 protestors who took part in the anti-austerity demonstration in London on Saturday.
The secretary of Bromley and Beckenham CND, Ann Garrett, said: “Even if we believe the notion that cuts in public spending are necessary, we should have an open and serious debate about the targets of these cuts.
“Disabled and vulnerable sections of our society are at the sharp end of the government cuts plan. We argue that this is not fair.”
She said the UK should abandon its plans to replace the Trident nuclear missiles.
“Nuclear weapons are expensive, illegal and immoral,” Miss Garrett added.
