BOXERS scooped awards for firing the best shots at military social day.

Some 15 members from The Frank Bruno Academy at Orpington College and Meridian Amateur Boxing Club in Eltham, joined South London's Territorial Army's 106 Regiment Royal Artillery at Pirbright small arms firing range last Saturday.

The annual event is one of the highlights of the training programme for the TA cadets where they get the opportunity to fire small arms such as the General Purpose Machine Gun, rifles and pistols.

With 106 Regiment being the home of The London District TA and Army Boxing club, this year an invitation was extended to members from Orpington and Eltham boxing clubs.

Major General Andrew Gregory presented prizes to the visitors' two best shots which went to the Frank Bruno Academy, Kalib Abatoah, 18, from Lee Green, and A lex King, 17, from the Ramsden estate in Orpington.

Mr Abatoah said: "The day was fantastic- I really enjoyed the chance to go on the shooting range.
