A surgeon at a Beckenham hospital stepped into the boxing ring for three rounds in aid of a cancer charity last week.

Mr Luke Cascarini, based at BMI The Sloane Hospital, in Albemarle Road, Beckenham, won the bout on points and hopes to raise £10,000 for the Oracle Cancer Trust.

The charity event was organised by the surgeon, who specialises in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

He said: “The whole evening was a great experience and all for such an amazing cause. It was especially humbling for me as one of my patients spoke at the event and his inspirational story and bravery really bought him what the evening was about.

“Cancer is a disease that we are winning the war against. With awareness and increased funding for research we can all make a difference.”
