COMPANIES within 15 miles of Dartford have received a boost with the news that a leading construction business has pledged to support other trades in the area.

Willmott Dixon Dartford, the UK's highest placed contractor in the recent Sunday Times Green List, already has contracts with 15 companies within this zone.

It is using them to provide work packages on projects such as Northfleet School for Girls and Orpington College.

Managing director Rob Lambe said: "We place great emphasis on maximising the 'local pound' on our projects by ensuring we give as much work as possible to local people.

"Our strategy at the Dartford office is to ensure our projects benefit the local economy and we will continue looking to add to our current supply chain in the region."

The Dartford office has secured projects worth around £150 million in the past six months.
