A CHILD and mother were rescued from their burning flat on Saturday evening.

Fire fighters were called to the blaze, in Kent House Lane, Beckenham at 7pm, where they found the duo on the second floor. It took 20 fire officers and four fire engines to bring the blaze under control by 7.30pm. Two adults and two children managed to escape the building before fire crews arrived. Half of the flat's lobby was damaged by the fire. The cause of which is under investigation.
