AN ARSONIST attacked a bank branch, causing smoke damage to the building and a shop next door.

Staff and customers were evacuated from Lloyds Bank in Market Square, Bromley last Thursday after a lit piece of paper was posted through the letter box at midday.

The fire brigade had to remove the letterbox and post bin from the wall of the building to put the fire out. The attack caused water damage to the carpets of Lloyds while Bon Marché clothes shop next door was smoke damaged. Police are treating it as suspicious and studying CCTV from area.
