A cyclist was delighted after he was reuinted with his stolen bike within 10 minutes thanks to quick thinking PCSOs.

After the theft was reported to Sgt Rob Goodwin, a description of the suspect was circulated over the radio and a man who matched it was spotted on CCTV on Evelina Road.

PCSO Julie Oldfield and PCSO Tommy Fuller, who were on mountain bike patrol in the area, saw the suspect riding the bike.

PCSO Fuller managed to stop him and he ditched the bike and ran away.

The bike was returned to its pleased owner Dedan Kamau.

Sgt Rob Goodwin said: “This is exactly the response we want to achieve through Safer Neighbourhood policing, where officers are out responding to public priorities in the place where it matters most”.
