Punctual pupils at a Biggin Hill school were rewarded for their excellent attendance with an ice skating trip to Hampton Court Palace last week.

The Year 7 students at Charles Darwin School, in Jail Lane, escaped the recent rain to glide around in front of the royal palace, in Richmond upon Thames.

Joe Tracy, transition manager of the year group, said: “It’s really important to recognise pupils who have outstanding attendance.

“You cannot learn if you are not in school, so excellent attendance is absolutely key to achieving success. Despite the unusually high rainfall we have been experiencing, we were lucky and it was a beautiful, crisp, clear afternoon.”

Trips such as this one are offered each term, with the next being a bowling trip just before the Easter break.
