A Biggin Hill student is hoping to become Britain's answer to Valentino Rossi as he embarks on a career in motorbike racing.

Carl Stevens, 17, studies at Charles Darwin School, in Jail Lane, and has just started his second season racing in the Rapid Solicitors National Junior Cup.

The Year 13 pupil began “messing about on bikes” with his Dad, but things have become more serious recently as he looks to beat his fifth place finish in his first competitive season.

He said: “I could have been more successful, but we tended to have quite a few issues. People don’t realise how expensive it is.”

With his first sponsors on board, including electronics website Gizmo Galaxy, Carl is hopeful entering the Triumph Triple Challenge next year, supporting the British Superbikes.

Keep up to date with Carl’s progress at carlstevensracing.co.uk.
