The cause of the void is still unknown

A road in Bickley remains closed following the discovery of a sink hole.

On May 26, the council and residents were alerted to the void, on Page Heath Lane, which stopped drivers using the road.

The police issued a warning which said: “The road is closed due to large sink hole in the carriageway. We will get to the bottom of it.”

The cause of the sink hole is still unknown.

Today, May 31, a Bromley council spokesperson stated: “The road remains closed. Highway engineers are assessing the road surface, investigating the likely cause and arranging repairs.
“More information for drivers will be available shortly, but local diversions are in place, with the exact closure in between the junctions with Bird in Hand Lane and Amesbury Road.”
