A sheltered housing scheme for older people in Bickley has received a national award for its accommodation.

Robert Whyte House, based in Oldfield Road, received top marks from its residents across 11 different categories, including feeling part of the wider community, level of privacy, staff attitudes and social activities.

The Stonewater run house was commended by the National Housing for Older People awards on February 17, in Manchester.

Project manager at Stonewater, Linda Lawless, said: “We are thrilled to receive this national award which is a great achievement and testament to the work our dedicated staff do.

“It was particularly meaningful as it was our residents who took the time to take part in the survey and rate our performance.”
