The winners of a competition to find the best businesses in Orpington have been announced.

In its fourth year, the Orpington’s Finest contest seeks out the crème de le crème of retailers.

It encourages businesses to compete against each other to raise the standards of customer service.

The winners were announced at the bi-monthly Orpington Business Forum meeting on Tuesday (16) evening.

Raw hairdressers in High Street won most innovative shop window category and Thornburrows furniture store in High Street picked up the best customer service award.

Director at Thornburows, Sue Andrews, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to bits. We have been in Orpington for many years and we have a really well established customer base and we would like to thank them for voting for us.

“Customer service is more important to us than anything. We also have a very good selection of goods.

“We intend to keep going for another year and hopefully pick up the same award in 2012.”

Amongst the other winners was Primo café in High Street where the staff were commended on their friendliness.

The competition’s popularity has grown year on year and this year one shop received more than 400 votes.
