Beckenham town centre set for regeneration

PUBLISHED: 10:20 19 September 2012

Beckenham town centre could soon be regenerated with an emphasis on its “village” identity should Bromley Council be successful with their bid for funding from Transport for London (TfL).

An application has been made for £1.68million from TfL’s major schemes fund that would see the area boosting project total reach £2.5million, including match-funding from the council.

Executive councillor for renewal and recreation, Peter Morgan, said: “This is an exciting time for Beckenham and we have worked hard on this bid which will support our ongoing work and the vitality of the town.”

Concept designs will see public realm improvements including wider pavements and improved lighting.
