Beckenham teen arrested over student violence

A teenage girl has been questioned over an attack on a police van during the student tuition fees protests in central London.

The 16-year-old, from Beckenham, was arrested on December 31 on suspicion of criminal damage and violent disorder in Whitehall on November 24.

An abandoned police van was smashed up, covered in graffiti and looted during the student protest.

The girl was released on bail until June, pending further inquiries.

Officers have set up a specialist team to identify those responsible for the violence and other criminal acts during a series of student protests.
