A father and son duo carried the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Flame as it passed through Austria.

Clifford and Luis Dartnall, 17, from Beckenham, were two of 2,012 torchbearers across the globe to help pass the iconic symbol.

The pair carried the flame on the first day of its tour in Sölden and Ischgl on Friday (13), on its way to Innsbruck to mark the start of the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games- the first Winter Youth Olympics in history.

Luis said: “It was such an incredible honour to be chosen to carry the Youth Olympic Flame and become part of this new chapter of Olympic Games history. I had an absolutely fantastic time.”

Mr Clifford and his father entered a radio competition run by Samsung to become torchbearers.
