Beckenham charity carol concert with top musicians

The South London Singers group is celebrating 30 years of music-making in Beckenham with a carol concert supporting children’s charity the NSPCC.
It is due to take place on Saturday December 17 at 7.45pm in Beckenham Methodist Church in Bromley Road.
Conductor John Nightingale will lead the singers, who will be joined by top musicians including harpist Keziah Thomas and organist David Thorne.
The Hammig String Quartet, well known to Beckenham audiences, will be supported by young string players from Trinity School, Croydon for a performance of Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto”.
The string players will also play in Gerald Finzi’s Christmas Scene “In Terra Pax” with choir, harp and the baritone soloist Samuel Evans who was formerly a choral scholar at Kings College Cambridge and winner of many prizes at the Royal College of Music.
Popular Christmas carols will also be sung and there will be coffee and mince pies in the interval to add to the festive occasion.
Tickets are £10, children aged eight to 18 are free, and will be available at the door or in advance from 0208 656 2815.
