Rav and Jane from Erith and Beckenham both faced a challenging week

The Great British Bake Off’s triumphant return continued last night (Wednesday) as our local bakers continued to battle it out.

As Beckenham’s Jane and Erith’s Rav took on the bite-size challenge of biscuit week, another contestant crumbled from the competition.

After a strong start, winning the first Star Baker of the season, 63-year-old Jane faced a mixed performance, delivering half-iced biscuits during one of the round’s.

Meanwhile judge Paul Hollywood told Rav his coconut bunting biscuits reminded him of a Thai green curry, but ultimately praised the taste.

For the showstopper round, contestants were asked to create a structure from biscuits.

Jane, inspired by her memories of visiting family in Hastings, created a sculpture of the old town, while Rav’s Christmas fairground failed to meet expectations.

Ultimately both of our local bakers lived on to bake another day, as Welsh contestant Louise was dumped out of the competition as her church replica bake collapsed before her eyes.
