PEOPLE on benefits will have access to courses designed to get them back in to work by providing basic skills and training.
Starting next Monday, Bromley Field Studies Centre in Grovelands Road, Orpington, will be running a Basic Employability Training Course (BET).
Each course lasts for six months and is open to adults in receipt of benefits.
The scheme will run until October next year, by which time it's hoped up to 40 people will have better basic skills and better employment prospects.
Executive councillor for economy, Julian Benington, said: "They will help people to achieve a recognised qualification as well as advise and help with job searches, career choices and interview techniques to gain employment."
Because the centre is situated besides the Scadbury Nature Reserve, people will also be able to take part in landscape construction and environmental training as well as having the opportunity to gain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) certificate. Adults who are interested in taking part should contact their Jobcentre Plus office and asked to be referred to the Bromley Field Studies Centre BET course. Call Jobcentre Bromley on 020 8271 5000 or Orpington on 01689303 555.
