Security van attack in Orpington High St


A security guard was struck over the head during an attempted armed robbery on Orpington High Street this morning.

The guard was attacked near to his security van as he delivered cash to the Halifax building society at about 10.40am.

Shortly afterwards police discovered a suspect vehicle in Holydale Drive, Keston and arrested three men aged 21, 17 and 16 on suspicion of armed robbery. The stolen cashbox was also recovered.

An ambulance was called to treat the guard, thought to be about 50-years-old, but he is not believed to be badly injured.
