ARMED robbers threatened a security guard with a gun before robbing him of a cash box.

The thieves struck at the Petts Wood Morrisons store in West Approach at 1.30pm last Friday (February 27).

The guard was delivering the money to the ATM, when he was threatened with a hand gun by the balaclava wearing robbers.

After grabbing the cash box they ran off towards a bright blue Volks Wagon Golf, driven by a third man. The guard was not injured.

The suspects are two men who were wearing dark clothing. Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Bob Currie said: "This is a very busy store and at that time of day, I would expect there to have been many people around."

Anyone with information should contact the Flying Squad at Tower Bridge on 020 7232 6530 or to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
