Some 14 members of the Legion's branch in Hayes wore their poppies with pride as they enjoyed a complimentary meal at the Crooked Billet Harvester in Southborough Lane, Bromley last Tuesday .

Secretary of the Legion's Bromley branch, Norman Friend, said: "We are hoping people will dig deep for The Poppy Appeal. It's certainly a very worthy cause as it provides vital financial, social and emotional support for current and past members of the Armed Forces and their dependents."

The Crooked Billet's new manager, Mark Heather, said: "We are delighted that members of The Royal British Legion were our guests.

"They have left collecting tins at the restaurant so that we can raise as much as we can for The Poppy Appeal in the weeks approaching Remembrance Day.
