Activity centre for disabled children shortlisted for mayor’s team London award

Volunteers from across the capital will be celebrated at an evening hosted by mayor Boris Johnson

Maypole Active, a sports and activities club for children with complex medical needs or disabilities has been shortlisted for the Mayor’s team London awards evening, happening next Monday.

The mayor of London will be thanking inspirational individuals and organisations from across the capital at an awards ceremony in City Hall next week.

The club, based in Green Street Green, has been shortlisted in the ‘sport and healthy living’ section with eight others at an award ceremony on Monday morning.

Speaking of the event Boris Johnson said: “Volunteers are at the heart of what makes our city great, giving their time to improve the lives of others.

“These are the unsung heroes of our capital and this annual Team London celebration allows us to give them the recognition they truly deserve.”
