Book-loving pupils at a Great Yarmouth primary school will soon be enjoying a brand new library, after the building housing it was lowered into place.

The new £75,000 library at Cobholm Primary Academy in Mill Road was constructed off-site and has been delivered to the school.

It will now be fitted out with new furniture and hundreds of new books, with pupils getting the chance to check out their favourite stories early in the summer term.

The timber-clad library building has space for up to 30 children to allow whole-class reading activities, as well as giving children a quiet place to read at break times.

The new dedicated reading space is part of a £230,000 package of improvements at the school, being funded by the Inspiration Trust.

Principal Kimberly Morton said: “Reading is so important and I’m really excited to have this great new library for our pupils, and to be filling it up with lots of beautiful books.

“It is fantastic to be able to keep improving the school. Our new early years playground has been really well used by our nursery children and we can now offer more places to local children, including free sessions for many over threes.”

The 200-pupil school has recently seen a new early years playground for the school’s nursery, repainted classrooms and corridors, new lights, new flooring, and a new visitor reception.
