THIRTEEN years on from their superlative turns in Michael Mann's hugely successful crime thriller Heat Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are reunited to disappointingly dull effect in Righteous Kill a bland cop vs. serial killer potboiler.

The two screen legends play aging New York detectives Turk (De Niro) and Rooster (Pacino) who have been left weary, impatient and disillusioned after a lifetime of scraping the scum off the city's sordid criminal underbelly.

When a child killer walks free due to a testimony from his girlfriend Turk is disgusted and plants a gun in the killer's house. The killer ends up going to prison for a crime he didn't commit and shortly after a parade of criminals who slipped through the legal net start getting bumped off one at a time by a mysterious vigilante.

* Righteous Kill is in cinemas now.
