A JAZZ festival in Greenwich featuring 24 musical events over one week opens today.

The Greenwich Riverfront Jazz Festival celebrating different styles of jazz in mostly free events runs until May 14.

Launching the festival in the Lord Hood pub in Creek Road will be the Brunch Bunch Band today at 12.30pm with an all day Jazz marathon this Saturday from 12noon.

Next door at Up The Creek, The Greenwich Young Music Makers with the acclaimed TJ Johnson band appear tonight at 7pm.

Jools Holland's saxophonist, the world class musician Derek Nash, fronts his Quartet with vocalist Beverley Vaughan at the same venue next Tuesday at 8pm.

The Clarendon Hotel in Blackheath hosts three events and the wonderfully atmospheric Oliver's bar in Nevada Street another four including ace pianist Sam Crowe and his trio next Tuesday.
