HUNDREDS of performers from schools will take part in a Music and Dance Scheme at Sadler's Wells next Tuesday.

A jazz ensemble, pipers, a wind quartet, a dance troupe and a piece for voice, strings and cutlery will be just some of the performances for the showcase.

Supported for the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the event will open with choristers singing the Excellent! Anthem composed by Howard Goodall.

Following this will be a classical work created and performed by the Royal Ballet School and Yehudi Menuhin School, one of 14 specially commissioned music and dance collaborations that also include a piece choreographed by Henri Oguike to music composed by Keith Tippet.

Performances will continue in the foyers during the interval and the evening will close with a Big Band reprisal.
