Cakes, teapots and sunflowers will cleverly cover the modesty of Theatre 62’s cast as they bare all in Calendar Girls.

The predominantly female cast take on the true story, that became a cinema success in 2003, when stars such as Helen Mirren and Julie Walters played Chris and Annie.

When Annie’s husband dies of leukaemia, she and best friend Chris attempt to raise money for a new sofa in the local hospital waiting room.

They manage to persuade members of the Women’s Institute to pose for a nude calendar, with the help of hospital porter Lawrence – an amateur photographer.

Proving a huge success, the calendar attracts the attention of the press and Chris’ relationship with Annie is put to the test.

It runs for six nights from June 17 at Wickham Theatre Centre, in Corkscrew Hill, West Wickham from 8pm. Tickets cost £7.50 from
