MIRRORS is an edge-of-your-seat horror movie where a dark spirit menaces a New York security guard.

Disgraced cop Ben Carson (Kiefer Sutherland) attempts to put his chequered past behind him by taking a job as a security guard.

He takes a night shift in a deserted department store that closed down after a fire.

Not the type to be afraid of his own reflection, he soon discovers that the mirrors are portals to a world of malevolent spirits. The creepy ghosts connect with the human world through the mirrors and when they discover Carson's presence, they go after his ex-wife Amy (Paula Patton) and his kids (Erica Gluck and Cameron Boyce).

Carson attempts to figure out the meaning of a cryptic message carved into one of the mirrors, hoping it will save his family and cut off contact with the malignant lurking presence.

Be warned, this gore-filled film begins with Carson's predecessor taking a shard of mirror and slashing his own throat.

Mirrors is a remake of the Korean horror flick Geoul Sokeuro and French director Alexandre Aja has much of it shot in low lit empty department store rooms. Expect horrific scenes of brutality and an alpha male out for goulie blood. If they have any.

* Mirrors is out in cinemas from October 3.
