A group of 19 artists who still keep in touch after meeting at art school in 1959 have staged an exhibition of their work which includes sculpture, painting and glass.

His idea has been brought to life in the Flash-Bac exhibition which runs until Sunday, October 9, and which is constantly manned by one of the 19 exhibiting artists.
Mr Winn, who works with oils and watercolours, said: “The great thing about this is that we are very supportive of each others’ work and we are not really competitive.
“We remember Ravensbourne fondly. The atmosphere was terrific. We were inspired to work.
“The people at Hall Place have been excellent. We gave the artists carte blanche to do what they whatever they wish. There were some people in the group who used this exhibition as a motivation to start making work again.”
Another exhibiting artist is Michael Kennedy, who has had works selected for the Royal Academy’s annual Summer Exhibition and who also studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in central London. He said: “Art school now is a different world from our time. Ravensbourne now concentrates on film and television and that is the picture nationally.
“We benefited from the encouraging post-war attitude and had grants and our tuition fees were paid. My parents could not have afforded to send me to art school if they had to pay for my fees.
“This exhibition has been a very cooperative venture. We work together and do not try and score points of each other. When people have success, the group are pleased about it.”
This may just be THE ultimate prize for any sportsman, sports fan, wearer of sports clothing, or just anyone who’s ever owned a pair of trainers, as MyOffers are giving away £1,000 of JD Sports vouchers.

My thanks to Marina for the article. I would like to point out that it was Keith Rawkins of Marina Mill, Cuxford, who hosted the dinner two years ago and was co-curator of the present exhibition. Keith's input was invaluable.
