Newham & Essex Beagles Robbie Grabarz was disappointed with his performance in the high jump at the Aviva London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.

European champion Grabarz had to settle for a share of second place after only managing a clearance of 2.22m, well down on his season’s best just ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.

He said: “I’m disappointed. I’ve put a couple of hard weeks in, but that doesn’t reflect how hard I’ve worked.

“It’s just a matter of concentration. I should’ve stayed in control, it was probably a lack of focus.

“I just need to continue to train hard and make sure I focus.”

Grabarz, coached by Fuzz Ahmed, has a personal best of 2.37m and is seen as a genuine medal hope for Great Britain at this summer’s Games.
