Forecasters fear surface flooding and disruption to transport from Thursday night

The September heatwave is set to get rudely interrupted today and tomorrow, with a rain warning issued.

The red hot temperatures this week - which saw them soar to 34.4C (94F) in Gravesend, the hottest September day in more than 100 years - are expected to break with heavy showers and thunderstorms during Thursday afternoon and evening.

And that will bring areas of heavy, thundery rain spreading across the county on Friday.

Both these days could see local surface water flooding, disruption to transport and power outages.

Temperatures are expected to reamin very warm during the day bringing with it an increased risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and eventing.

These could bring very heavy downpours in places with some locations possibly seeing as much as 30-40 mm in just an hour. This could lead to localised surface water flooding, difficult driving conditions, disruption to transport and the lightning could lead to power outages.

A yellow rain warning has been issued which suggest very low likelihood of medium impacts.

Friday is set to be fresher but forecasters fear there could be additional localised heavy rain as it moves east.

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.

Who wouldn’t love the chance to go on a shopping spree. Imagine being able to walk into a shop and choose whatever your heart desires without having to worry about how much it costs.
