The station has now re-opened but delays remain

Commuters in Kent, Bromley and Bexley are facing travel chaos this afternoon after London Bridge station was evacuated following a bomb scare.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to London Bridge Street, SE1 on Tuesday, 7 March shortly before 1.40pm following a report of a security alert.

“London Bridge Train Station has been closed as a precaution. Enquires are ongoing.”

Surrounding roads were closed following the incident but have since re-opened after police described the situation as “not suspicious”.

The station has also re-opened and trains are running again but Southeastern bosses have warned passengers to expect delays.

“Some trains will still need to be diverted or cancelled. Please check your journey before heading to the station,” a spokesperson said.

Southeastern has arranged for tickets to be accepted on the following alternatives, at no extra cost: Docklands Light Rail, London Underground, London Buses, Southern, London Overground, Thameslink.

Standard tickets will also be accepted on High Speed services.
