The show was put on by St Christopher’s hospice

Car lovers were in for a treat on Sunday, as a classic car show revved into town.

Local hospice St Christopher’s organised the event, hosting more than 450 vehicles from across the 20th century.

Gleaming sports cars, luxury American saloon cars, classic cars and even public buses were on display at Tripes Farm in Orpington.

More than 4,000 people turned up to the event, which is expected to raise around £20,000 for the hospice, which offers end of life care in Sydenham and Orpington.

Families and petrolheads both came along to the all day event - which saw models including Cadillacs, a DeLorean, and a Citroen 5CV from 1926.

Live bands and dancing performances were also part of the day’s entertainment which helped to draw in the crowds, who had the chance to see 1955 Le Mans winning Jaguar worth millions of pounds.

Hewitt’s Farm in Bromley was also on hand selling local fresh farm produce, with a wide range of street foods, cakes drinks and ice cream all on sale throughout the day.

“What a fantastic day” said Sarah Coughtrie, hospice fundraiser.

Ms Coughtrie continued by thanking the visiting crowds and those who contributed to the day’s success.

“We are always so overwhelmed by the support St Christopher’s Car Show is given by everyone who comes to visit, take part or volunteer.

“We couldn’t have held such an amazing day without the help of our local rotary clubs, Bromley Police Cadets, 228 Bromley Air Force Cadets and Trinity School.

“Thanks also to Keith Barry from Brooklands Museum, who was a great support, as well as Gap Group Hire solutions.”
