POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.

The attack happened in Crystal Palace Park in the early hours of April 18 as the victim was walking from the bus garage to Anerley Hill.

She was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground.

The attacker then tried to pull the girl's trousers down, having already pulled his own down, but was disturbed by a passer-by, and ran off towards Crystal Palace Train Station.

Police would like to trace this witness, a white man in his 40s, along with anyone else who was in the area between 12.15 and 1.15am.

The suspect is a black male, aged between 30 and 40, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a blue hooded top and blue or black Adidas tracksuit bottoms. Anyone with any information should contact Detective Constable Marie Hill at Bromley police on 020 8284 8859 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
