An aspiring young journalist landed the scoop of the year when she attended an esteemed summer school.

Newstead Wood girl’s school pupil Leodora Darlington, 17, got a first hand experience in journalism when she went behind the scenes at the BBC studios, worked on a photo assignment at Reuters and met editors at the Times and News of the World newspapers.
The week-long course, funded by the City of London Corporation, offered 26 youngsters from London the chance to find out what the life of a journalist is really like by taking them on a whirlwind tour of the capital’s newsrooms.
Ms Darlington said: “I’ve always loved writing articles - whether for a school magazine or a low-profile website - so journalism really felt right for me. Since starting the academy, I couldn’t want it more.”
For a brief moment it looked like it might be third time lucky for the Queen's visit to Bromley.
