Detectives have released footage of a man they are seeking in connection with an assault on a member of staff in a shop in Penge.

Police were called to Kingswood Food and Wine on Penge High Street at 9.04pm on Tuesday August 14 to reports of a male being assaulted.

The suspect entered the shop, along with three children described as aged between six and 12.

He tried to walk out of the shop with some alcohol he had not paid for.

A member of staff confronted the man about not paying for the goods, at which point the suspect is said to have hit the victim with a bottle on his head and face.

He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a black man with a bald head, aged in his 40s.

He was wearing a black t-shirt with white logo, black jeans and was carrying a sports shop carrier bag.

DC Kelly Cretten of Bromley Police said: “This man launched a violent attack on an innocent man trying to protect his store and prevent a theft.

“I’m appealing to anyone who may recognise this man, or who witnessed the attack, to come forward and speak to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Bromley CID on 07818454470 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
