Orpington MP Jo Johnson visited Manor Oak Primary School in Sweeps Lane, St Mary Cray, on Friday, December 15 to hear about the future plans of some of the students.

The university and science minister met headteacher Jane Butler to discuss the school and the senior leadership’s vision.

He then took a tour and watched the school’s football team.

Afterwards, Mr Johnson said: “This is a friendly and welcoming school that caters for pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds. The staff, led by the headteacher Miss Butler, have created an atmosphere in which pupils are able to grow and succeed.

“I particularly enjoyed being shown around by the Year 6 junior leaders and to hear about their exciting plans for the future.”

He said several of the students were looking at careers in science and, even at their young age, going to university.
