Orpington driver arrested after fatal wrong-way crash on M20

The passenger of a car which crashed heading the wrong way down the M20 has died.

Emergency services were called to the M20 London-bound between junctions four and three in the early hours of Saturday morning after a Toyota Corolla collided with a black Volkswagen Touareg.

Police received reports that the Corolla was travelling on the wrong side of the carriageway moments before the crash, which happened just at around 3.30am.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “One man, a passenger of this vehicle, died at the scene.

“The driver, a 37-year-old man from Orpington was arrested and has been bailed, pending further enquiries, until June 12 2017.

“Officers would like to speak with anyone who saw the Corolla in the moments leading up to the collision, or who may have dash cam footage.”
