The MP presented prizes to pupils for outstanding achievements

MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup James Brokenshire praised pupils for their achievements when he attended an awards evening at Ravens Wood School last week.

The secretary of state for Northern Ireland presented awards celebrating students’ academic, sporting and creative achievements at the school’s annual prize evening on Thursday, September 15.

Pupils also received prizes for demonstrating the school’s key values of being strong leaders, dedicated learners and considerate ladies and gentlemen – Ravens Wood’s traditional ‘3Ls’ ethos.

Mr Brokenshire commented: “It was a privilege to attend Ravens Wood School, and to present the awards to their incredibly successful students.

“I was extremely impressed by the strong sense of achievement and ambition that runs through the school.

“It was clear that Ravens Wood is a school which believes in developing the character of its students, as well as ensuring that they fulfil their academic potential, truly preparing them for adulthood. I wish all of the students well in their future endeavours.”

Headteacher Sally Spence added: “I was absolutely delighted to see so many of our students, supported by their families at our annual awards evening.

“It was particularly heart-warming to welcome back students who are about to embark upon their University careers. The opportunity to celebrate achievement is always a joy to behold.”
